OMNeT++ Simulation of Hierarchical Mobile IP and QoS Extensions
Steffen Sroka, Holger Karl
Overview
This simulation has been developed to evaluate the performance of a QoS-conditionalized handover procedure. Since this approach is based on Hierachical Mobile IP (HMIP) this simulation can also be used to make some investigations on HMIP and MIP.
To model these protocols, we implemented a simulation environment based on the OMNeT++ simulation tool and the associated IPv4 Suite for OMNeT++. The main extensions are the implementation of (Hierarchical) Mobile IPv6, where the relevant IPv6-specific characteristics are introduced by some simulation-specific packet extensions; on top of this, the QoS-conditionalized Binding Update is implemented by adding resource constraints to an IP router and the capability to process the QoS options contained in BU messages.
This simulation models an access network that offers different IP based mobility protocols to the mobile nodes (MN). The MN can choose between MIPv6, HMIPv6 and the QoS-conditionalized BU approach.
An installation instruction and a short overview is included in the readme file. Don't hesitate to contact me if there are any problems with the simulation.
