    Research interests
    My research interests are in the area of wireless communications, specifically dynamic spectrum access and cognitive radio technologies. I am developing and evaluating cognitive radio system designs, which are able to satisfy the requirement to of protecting the primary communication, but are at the same time also able to offer a certain quality of service for the secondary communication.
    I have also co-designed and am co-administrating the MiXiM framework for OMNeT++. MiXiM is a framework to enable detailed wireless and mobile simulations within OMNeT++. MiXiM is the successor of the Mobility Framework which was also developed at the TKN group.
    I am currently working on the European FP 7 testbed IP project CREW. The goal of CREW is to develop a federated testbed for cognitive radio and cognitive networking research.
    From July 2008 to January 2009, I was visiting the Sprint Applied Research Lab. in California, where we did a joint project on characterizing and measuring primary user activity in cellular networks. Part of the results were presented at the IEEE DySPAN 2008, where we received the best paper award in the technical track.
    From May 2005 to October 2007, I was a stipend of a graduate, interdisciplinary engineering research program called "Graduiertenkolleg". The group that consists of PhD students from the three major universities of Berlin (TU, HU and FU) focuses on stochastic modeling and analysis of large systems within different engineering disciplines.     In 2004 we developed in conjunction with the BWRC, UC-Berkeley the general system concept and wrote a white paper on CORVUS, a "COgnitive Radio approach for usage of Virtual Unlicensed Spectrum".
