Mit der stetig steigenden Zahl an elektronischen Hilfs-, Unterhaltungs- und Sicherheitselementen in Fahrzeugen ist auch der Schritt zur Kommunikation zwischen Fahrzeugen immer unumgänglicher geworden. Schon seit mehreren Jahren beschäftigt sich die Forschung mit Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), deren Anforderungen denen für Inter-Fahrzeugkommunikation ähneln. Daher liegt der Gedanke nahe, Mechanismen und Protokolle aus dem Bereich WSN auf den Fahrzeugbereich zu übertragen. Im Folgenden wird die Anpassung des Virtual Cord Protocol (VCP) für die Anwendung in stationären Fahrzeugverbünden beschrieben.
