Abstract

During the last couple of years, much research has been done about ad hoc networks, especially about its routing protocols. WSN (Wireless Sensor Network) is a very important application area of ad hoc networks, but the routing protocols of ad hoc networks are not always directly applicable for WSN because of its own characteristics. The rapid development of WSN research demands a series of its own routing protocols to optimize the net traffics in various situations. This thesis will analyze the three data-centric forward-mechanisms for WSN routing protocols, flooding, gossiping, WPDD (Weighted Probabilistic Data Dissemination), with a simulation model that is established on 'AnyLogic', a software especially for a modelling software. By combinations of the parameters of the simulation model, for example the priority of the sensors, of the packets, delays and loss rates of the channels, 126 scenarios within the same topology of the simulation model can be configured and executed. The measurements which are analysed are the values for the latency, path length (hops), use of power and efficiency of the communication models such as one-to-one(unicast), one-to-many(multicast), many-to-many und many-to-one. By the results of the analysis and by the changing of the measurements one can see, which features the different forward mechanisms have and how the above-named parameters take effect on the net traffics in the simulations. With this previous knowledge one can select the right variance of one or more certain forward mechanisms for a certain.
