Abstract

Task allocation in self-organizing, self-configuring, self-healing, self-managing, and adaptive mobile systems is investigated closer within the scope of the ROSES-projekt. In this work it is determined the functionality and performance of a non deterministic, but only working on probabilitic methods task allocation with the aid of a OMNeT++ simulation. Thereby the nodes decide autonomous on the exposure with the tasks. This occurs on the basis of for each node individual specified probability on executing or forwarding of a task, with each node only able to execute a part of the tasks due to potential different hardware (e.G. camera, heat sensor). The basic request to secure each task is executed is accomplished, but the performance values (et.al. average response time, overhead) are partly not satisfying. Advantages are in low maintenance effort and good distribution of working load despite of little logic needed both in the net and the nodes. In my opinion this approach is eligible in certain cases but cannot rival with a classic deterministic approach in an overall point of view.
