Short Bio

My name is Johannes Blobel and I am a research assistant at Telecommunication Networks Group (TKN) at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, TU Berlin, Germany. I received my BSc (2011) and MSc (2014) in Computer Science from Paderborn University. My research focus is on energy efficient communication in the realm of wireless sensor networks and IoT using wake-up receivers and on indoor- and outdoor localization techniques.

Another interest of mine is the history of computers. Since 2021 I am the appointed member of the IEEE Germany Section ExCom, responsible for History Activities. In the past years I held a lecture on computer history where I teach bachelor students about the origins of their field of study and give a retroprogramming course on the Commodore C64. In my spare time I also work for the Heinz Nixdorf Computer Museum in Paderborn.
